Do you have the systems and policies in place to identify and recruit the ‘best-fit’ candidate for a position? Here is a checklist to find out:
- Is your business routinely including on the selection criteria and asking in interview questions about having established and maintained ‘quality workplace’ relationships and level of understanding as to its importance?
- Does your organisation routinely ask in interview to those candidates who would need to relocate from outside the region— what opportunities and challenges they would expect to encounter in the first 12 months?
- Does your organisation have a process in place to ensure the preferred candidate is contacted by phone ASAP after interview and at that time are advised of the steps and likely duration of onboarding?
- If onboarding is expected to take longer than 2 weeks, does your organisation have a process in place to ensure the relevant line manager makes contact by phone at least weekly to keep the preferred candidate up to date?
- Does your organisation have a process to ensure all preferred candidates needing to relocate are introduced to/linked up with the CCP as early as possible during onboarding?
If you answered NO to any of these, you might have more work to.
